Prisons Are Profitable

Unfortunately, prisons are profitable.  With the push by private citizens to provide housing for the government's prisoners, and the corresponding lease agreements by these landlords that the housing they provide be kept nearly full, often requiring occupancy rates of 90% or better, how can anyone get a fair trial?  If it's your day in court and the quota has not been reached for the week, will you spend some time in jail needlessly?  Isn't this a conflict of interest?  How can the one who is supposed to make sure a trial is fair, also be required to keep the jailhouse filled to a minimum 90% capacity for the next 20 years?  Read more about this at http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-03-07/prisons-ethical-concerns-executive/53405290/1.  Also, check out the story "Private Purchasing of Prisons Locks in Occupancy Rates" at http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-03-01/buying-prisons-require-high-occupancy/53402894/1.  Many of our sons and daughters are already incarcerated unfairly, needlessly.  We should be outraged over this; and we should tell as many as we can, to save as many as we can.  If you have a son or daughter in the system, wrongfully incarcerated, fight to get them free.  Will you help us fight to get Charles free?  Please give.  Thank you!

Imagine how tough it is for prisoners who have been wrongly incarcerated. Defects in the system that is supposedly just, often create the opportunity for unjust imprisonment. However, many innocent prisoners have the potential to be exonerated either through DNA testing or the introduction of new evidence.

Our goal is to free Charles Vandross and many others like him with the truth, to lobby for reform of the system responsible for their unjust imprisonment, and to give a voice to the untold stories.
